As of this week I have now been blessed of the Lord to start my fifth year with God’s family here at Borden. I have experienced so many wonderful times and happenings in the life of God’s church here.
There have been baptisms (spiritual births) and many babies (physical births) born. We have seen the appointment of new leadership, the addition of new families, a new youth minister and his sweet family. We have had graduates, newlyweds, and retirements. We have celebrated seniors, moms, dads, children, and 125 years as a church.
We have helped to send folks to the mission field, fed the needy, supported the work of Kingsfield, Maple Manor, Youth for Christ, and several other ministries. We have made improvements to the parking lot, playground, basement, office space, signs, lighting, and pavement for a widened entrance. We have added new tables, chairs, computers, and with the generous giving of God’s people retired the building debt.
We have grown together gathering at picnics, parties, parades, ball games, fellowships, and even at hospitals and funeral homes. Of course we have been temporarily separated from some precious saints who went home to be with the Lord and others who are just away at college.
We have preached either through, or in part, nine books of God’s word. We have studied the bible in Sunday School, Sunday Nights, and Wednesday Nights. We have examined world religions, apologetics, surveys of many biblical books, missions and evangelism, prayer, and on many other great doctrines of the faith.
All in all I could not have asked for, hoped for, or even imagined, all the wonderful things God has brought to pass. All of this in what seems like four very short years since God brought us here to His church to fall in love with His people.
I have not been more excited about anything that has happened here over the past four years, than I am about what is about to happen this month in the life of Borden Church of Christ. One day those who lead in this church, will no longer be here. It is critical that in the life of God’s church, that young men and ladies rise up and lead the next generation of God’s children. That is in part what is about to happen here on Wednesday evenings during the month of August. Several of our young men have committed to step up and teach a series of lessons on God’s word.
During this time the church will also be providing – a KID’S PRAISE TIME worship hour in the basement for the children. As your minister I ask you to please take note of the schedule and make it a priority to come to hear God’s word taught and support this next generation of leadership.
Blessings, Brother Scott >
